The Real Clun Nautico de Valenica presents The Intrepid Race

1 December 2017

The Real Club Nautico de Valencia will celebrate in November 2018 The Intrepid Race - Offshore Regatta A2 - Valencia - Columbretes, a scoring event for the A2 Spanish Championship, which will test the offshore expertise of its participants. It is a 150-mile race with a route that will depart from Valencia and, after skirting the Penyeta del Moro in Cullera, will reach the Columbretes, going around the largest of these islands, and return to the Real Club Nautico de Valencia.

The sailors must demonstrate their ability to race doublehanded in cold conditions and with the possibility of bad weather. Before setting sail, the engine of the boats will be sealed, which will also undergo a safety check by the organizing committee of the race.

The creation of this new race comes from the initiative of the sailing delegate of the club, Salvador Bayarri, with the aim that the Valencian fleet will have a unique offshore test. "We have a very powerful cruising and sailing fleet, and we wanted to organize a race that rediscovers the adventurous dimension of sailing, a different kind of race that is a significant challenge for its participants," said Salvador Bayarri.

This new race will join several other important events organized by the RCNV, which next year celebrates its 115th anniversary. These include the Trofeo S.M. La Reina, the Trofeo Dr. Luis Senís, and the offshore race Valencia - San Antonio.
