Kiel Week starts, World's largest sailing event

  With about 4000 regatta participants, 1900 boats, 400 starts, active sailors from more than 60 nations, 38 classes/disciplines, ten race courses on nine days – its easy to see how Kiel Week is the world’s largest annual sailing event. In addition, 3.5 million visitors are expected, among them 400,000 visitors coming to watch at Kiel Schilksee.

In the Offshore disciplines, the event starts over the weekend with the Aalregatta of Classics and other boats racing under Yardstick, and the Welcome Race featuring ORC Club I-IV, Albin Ballad, and Multihulls. hen 9 races for the Kiel Cup over 18-20 June will be held for ORCi I-IV + IRC/group ranking in what is being called the ORC Baltic Pre-Worlds.

On 21 June is the Senatspreis being scored in ORC Club I-IV, and on 22-23 June is the Silbernes Band also for ORC Club I-IV.
