Palada repeats title as Slovenian ORC Champion

19 June 2018

The last regatta of the NARC (North Adriatic Rating Challenge) took place between Muggia in Italy and Portorož in Slovenia last weekend, and was also scored as the ORC Slovenian National Championship. A total of 22 entries from 4 nations and of various sizes competed in the series.

On the first sunny day with perfect moderate breeze the fleet sailed an offshore race from Muggia to Portorož. It was mainly downwind sailing under spinnakers and gennakers. The Mini class entry Palada, the defending 2017 Slovenian ORC Champion, won the first race ahead of two Italian entries, Massimo Minozzi’s Sagola 60 in second place and Carrado Annis’s Lady Day 998 in third.

On the second day only two of the planned three windward-leeward races were held, with an unstable wind direction being very challenging for competitors as well as for the race committee. The second race was won by Stefano Novello’s Vola Vola Endeavour ahead of Lady Day 998. Lady Day won the last race and become overall winner of the series, with Sagola 60 in second place and Vola Vola Endeavour in third.

Being the best Slovenian boat in fifth place overall in the series, Palada was once again awarded the title ORC Slovenian National Champion.
