Cup - remaining closed as a victim of COVID-19, the Nautical Club of
Thessaloniki organized the event this year, along with the 2020
Greek National ORCi Cup, in local waters. The Club's premises hosted
the event at its scheduled time, avoiding the pandemic's
consequences that led many other events to postponement or
The regatta attracted 27 entries, including 6 sportboats racing in a
separate class for the first time in a National event. Four out of
five days of racing were blessed with "boukadoura," the steady
thermal sea breeze cooling down the big city during summer. The
third day, with windy but unstable conditions, was used for coastal
races for all classes. Hence the race committee managed the full
schedule of seven windward-leeward races scored with PCS, and two
coastal races scored with single-number coastal, for all classes.
CODE ZERO-CANTEEN (Grand Soleil 42R) skippered by Michalis Belegris
(Piraeus NC) dominated ORC A, with five bullets and second places in
the rest of the races.
Similarly, ANAX-VICTORI (First 34.7) skippered by Nikos Anagnostou
(Voula NC) scored five first places winning the ORC B trophy, but
the battle for the rest of the podium was fierce, decided on the
last day of racing: BAXIMUS (X-35 OD, Thanasis Baxevanis, NC
Thessaloniki) managed second, and ANATELOUSSA AFRODITI (First 34.7,
Giorgos Avgerinos, NC Thessaloniki) finished third.
SB32-KLEEMAN (Laser SB20 OD, Babis Psomiadis, Thessaloniki Offshore
NC) won the inaugural trophy of Sportboat class. The second Laser
SB20 of the event (Giorgos Margiolos, Thessaloniki Offshore NC)
managed to win the inaugural "Stavros Konstantinidis" Cup, awarded
to the best corrected time of all the fleet in the longest coastal
