The Offshore Racing Congress
The Offshore Racing Congress is a World Leader in Rating Technology, serving 45 countries in modern VPP-based handicap systems for offshore and inshore sailing, giving all boats an equal chance to win. It is the largest measurement-based rating rule system in the world.
The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) is a World Sailing-recognized international rating system responsible for the establishment and maintenance of rating and classification standards used to define offshore and inshore yacht racing handicap categories.
Along with the IMS measurement rules, ORC International and ORC Club, the ORC is also the sole authority recognized by World Sailing for the administration of the ORC Grand Prix Classes Rules and co-related Regulations, measurement and classes, and is entitled to hold annual ORC World championships. Continental championships are also help annually.
Besides the tens of thousands of owners and sailors who race in ORCi and ORC Club events around the world, ORC also serves thousands of sailors in ORC Superyacht, ORC Sportboat, and ORC Multihull classes and events.
The organization is supported by a professional staff of technicians, programmers, customer service and communications experts, and works directly with 32 Rating Offices and innumerable race organization authorities around the world.
Through its Annual Congress and Committee Meetings, and the ongoing work of the International Technical Committee, ORC acts on suggestions and feedback to improve the system for its users.
