The 71st Regata dei Tre Golfi got underway this afternoon from the Bay of Santa Lucia, in front of Castel dell’Ovo, marking the long offshore race of the ORC World Championship 2026 and a key moment of the Tre Golfi Sailing Week.

The ORC World Championship 2026 reaches one of its defining moments tomorrow with the start of the 71st Regata dei Tre Golfi, the iconic offshore race that remains at the heart of the event.

A torrential morning storm bringing spectacular thunder and lightning to the Bay of Palma was then followed by a prolonged calm which prevented racing on the final day of 22nd Sandberg PalmaVela. Cumulative results from Saturday stand and the showcase first regatta of the Mediterranean racing season crowned winners in the 13 classes this Sunday afternoon.

The countdown is entering its final phase for the Tre Golfi Sailing Week 2026, with less than one week to go until the ORC World Championship and three to the IMA Maxi European Championship, as Naples and Sorrento prepare to welcome one of the most significant gatherings of international sailing this season.

With just one month to go until the start of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, an impressive fleet has signed up to kick off the big-boat racing season in the Mediterranean. The Sandberg PalmaVela got underway on April 25 with the start of La Larga, its offshore race, as a fleet of 35 boats left the Real Club Náutico de Palma to begin a course around the Balearic archipelago.

After four days of racing in conditions ranging from 8 to 20+ knots, and on courses that ranged from short, intense windward/leeward races to long 16 and 20-mile tours of Charleston Harbour, two new ORC Sportboat North American Champions are crowned at the 30th edition of Charleston Race Week.

The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) continues to expand its global footprint with a successful visit to Qingdao, China, during the recent City Clubs Open Regatta. Invited by the China Marina Sports School (CMSS), ORC Chief Measurer Zoran Grubisa conducted a comprehensive programme including a measurement seminar and presentations to both race officials and sailors. The visit marks an important step in the continued development of offshore racing under ORC rules in China.

Race conditions were excellent for the start of racing in the ORC Sportboat North American Championship, with 10-15 knots of combined synoptic and sea breeze winds getting boats in both ORC classes around the course quickly, well ahead of the 4-hour time limit.

18 teams from the USA and Canada will start four days of competition in the inaugural ORC Sportboat North American Championship held as part of the 30th edition of Charleston Race Week on Thursday, April 16.
