Kirsty Morrison skippered the 76-foot Zemphira to victory for a second year in a row, sailing in Superyacht B against three of the nine Superyachts entered. She described the racing as “super tough” because her team is used to racing Zemphira in Maine.

“There, the competition is much smaller than us, so there’s no one around us,” she said. “Here, it was so fun, fighting for the win with boats like Miss Shell and Sophie.”

Morrison said that on day one, her team saw gusts of 24 knots and set a boat speed record of 16.8 knots going downwind. (The 109-foot Nakupenda, winner in Superyacht A, had also reported its fastest-ever speeds that day.)

“It was kind of like sailing in the Caribbean, with big waves and big winds. We were a bit nervous about the boat, but we have a good team…and great camaraderie aboard, so we have a lot of fun. To have three days (instead of just two, like some race weekends) gives us a chance to really get into it, including the parties, which were amazing.”
