2026 ORC Sportboat European Championship Cancelled; Cartagena Regatta to Continue as Spanish Championship

22 June 2026 - Cartagena, Spain - The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) and the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena have jointly decided to cancel the 2026 ORC Sportboat European Championship. The regatta, scheduled for 21–27 September in Cartagena, Spain, will nevertheless take place as the 2026 Spanish ORC Sportboat Championship.

The decision was made after careful consideration following a lower-than-expected number of entries. In consultation with the host club, ORC concluded that cancelling the championship is the most appropriate course of action, while continuing to work towards strengthening participation in future editions.

The scheduled regatta will nevertheless go ahead as the 2026 Spanish ORC Sportboat Championship, providing Spanish teams with the opportunity to compete for their national title while maintaining the planned racing programme in Cartagena.

ORC thanks the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena for its commitment, preparation and close cooperation throughout the planning process.

The venue for the 2027 ORC Sportboat European Championship will be announced following a new selection process. ORC’s objective is to identify a venue that is well positioned to attract the strongest possible international fleet and continue the growth of ORC Sportboat racing in Europe.
