Bosphorus Cup Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
19 January 2026 - Istanbul, Turkey - The Bosphorus Cup, one of the world’s most renowned international sailing events, celebrates its 25th anniversary with great enthusiasm in 2026.
Held annually on the historic waters of the Istanbul Strait, the Bosphorus Cup has grown over a quarter of a century into a premier regatta that attracts top sailing teams from around the world. The unique natural course of the Bosphorus, the challenge of its winds and currents, and its stunning backdrop of Istanbul’s historic skyline have made the event a highlight of the international sailing calendar.

For 2026, the Organization Committee has confirmed that preparations are well underway for the celebration of this milestone edition. The event will take place from 17–19 September 2026, featuring racing areas including the Prince Islands, the Bosphorus Strait, and Caddebostan, and will bring together a fleet of competitive yachts representing both Turkish and international teams.

As part of the 25th-anniversary celebrations, the Bosphorus Cup will also host special social events, including a gala night and partner/invitational races in the months leading up to the main regatta. These activities aim to honor the history of the event and strengthen its ties with participants, supporters, and sponsors.
The Bosphorus Cup continues to be widely covered by international media and followed by sailing communities across the globe. Over the years it has become more than a race — it is a celebration of sailing culture, competitive excellence, and the unique maritime heritage of Istanbul.
Held in the unique setting of the Istanbul Strait before millions of spectators, with ship traffic suspended, the event brings together state of the art boats powered solely by wind for an exceptional racing experience.
Nearly 70 boats compete, with more than half of the participants coming from abroad, including some of Europe’s best sailors. Widely covered by international media, the races reach over 10 million people on social platforms.
Positioned at the heart of a major global city, the Bosphorus Cup provides a stage for elite athletes, professional sailing teams, and design driven race boats, while also offering strong promotional value for brands through its commercial partnerships.
