Gaetana Sweeps Inaugural Tre Golfi Multihull Trophy as 2025 Tre Golfi Sailing Week Closes in Style

23 May 2025 - Sorrento, Italy - The curtain has officially fallen on a spectacular edition of Tre Golfi Sailing Week 2025, following four days of exceptional racing in the Gulf of Naples, where steady wind conditions allowed for the full program of races to be completed as planned. The final coastal race – a 25-nautical-mile sprint from Sorrento to the shadow of Mount Vesuvius - brought the regatta to a thrilling close.
This year’s edition marked a historic milestone with the debut of the IMA Tre Golfi Multihull Trophy, raced under the ORC Multihull Rule — a first for the event and for large multihulls in ORC-rated competition.
Gaetana Dominates with a Perfect Scoreline
The offshore leg, the 156-mile 70th Regata dei Tre Golfi, served as the opening challenge of the Multihull Trophy. Starting at sunset on Friday, 16 May, the multihull fleet raced through a stunning course from Naples to Ponza, around Capri and the Li Galli islands, before returning to Naples.
Gaetana (Gunboat 66), owned by Riccardo Pavoncelli, emerged as the clear winner under ORC corrected time – a dominant performance that set the tone for the week.
2nd Allegra (Irens 78) - Adrian Keller (SUI)
3rd Highland Fling XVIII (VPLP Custom 80) - Irvine Laidlaw (MON)
4th Falcon (DNA F4) - Matteo Uliassi (ITA)

Coastal Racing Recap - May 19-22
Following the offshore test, the multihull fleet shifted to inshore racing for four days of coastal courses based out of Sorrento and Vico Equense. Each day saw consistent breeze and tight competition among the four elite catamarans.
Yet there was little doubt in the outcome:
Gaetana, representing Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia, won all five races of the Multihull Trophy, showcasing superior preparation, coordination, and boat speed.
