The four classes racing under the ORC rule at the 170th Annual Regatta break into two groups.

The gray skies turned to blue, and the sun emerged as the starting signal was displayed for the third edition of the ORC Double-Handed World Championship, organized by the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club (Kongelig Norsk Seilforening – KNS) in collaboration with the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).

The third edition of the ORC Double-Handed World Championship 2024 is set to commence today. Hosted by the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club (Kongelig Norsk Seilforening – KNS) and organized with the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC), the championship will see world titles in the double-handed sailing discipline contested in a 300 to 340-mile race on the legendary Skaw Racecourse, starting from Oslo and finishing in Tønsberg on June 14.

With a win on the final day of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in collaboration with title sponsor Giorgio Armani, YCCS member Juan Ball's Swan 115 Moat claimed overall victory, two points ahead of the RP-Nauta 100 Morgana.

A welcome cocktail set on the panoramic terrace of the YCCS officially opens the 17th edition of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta today, an event in which a shared passion for the sea sees the YCCS and Giorgio Armani join forces for a third consecutive year.

The champions were crowned in ORC classes as follows: Elena Nova in ORC 0-1, L’Immens-Laplaza Assessors in ORC 2, Lady in ORC 3, Lassal in ORC 4-5, Yellow Rose in ORC Double Handed

Before the final day, the Estonian Katariina II is the new leader in ORC 0-1, while the same boats remain at the top in the other classes: L’Immens-Laplaza Assessors in ORC 2, Lady in ORC 3, Lassal in ORC 4-5, Tenaz in J70, and Baleària-RCNP in the Women’s Cup. After the fourth race, a discard came into play in all categories.

With two weeks left until the first gun, the New York Yacht Club's 170th Annual Regatta is nearing record numbers in terms of participation. The entry list currently stands at 139 boats, with 39 registered to compete under the ORC rating rule.

This Thursday, the 51st Conde de Godó BMW Trophy began with the coastal race for the ORC Double Handed fleet, which started its 105-mile test at 3 PM with a start and finish in Barcelona, passing by the Petrolera, located off the Costa Daurada.

Two months ahead of the 42nd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the competition has already registered over one hundred entries. Noteworthy is the fact that more than half of the teams registered belong to the ORC class, proving their vouched interest and support of the European Championship being organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma and the Offshore Racing Congress in 2025 for the 43rd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE.

The 77th annual Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race took place this past weekend, challenging sailors with light winds and testing their patience and strategy. Starting and finishing in Stamford, CT, the fleet of 76 boats embarked on the 186-nautical-mile journey around Block Island. The ultimate victory in the ORC class was claimed by Andrew Berdon's TP52, Summer Storm.

Everything is ready at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona to host the 51st edition of the Conde de Godó BMW Sailing Trophy from May 29 to June 2, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. ORC fleet is numerous, with about 20 boats racing in double-handed division and about 50 boats in classes ORC 0 to ORC 5.
