New ORC Rules and VPP ready for 2024 season

ORC Weather Routing Scoring

A significant innovation from the ORC International Technical Committee is the development of weather routing scoring, where a boat’s time allowance against her competitors will be calculated using a predicted elapsed time based on weather routing each boat around the course. The use of weather-routing scoring gives the competitors the full benefit of the ORC system to give scoring that reflects the boat and the race conditions.
Diverse ORC fleet enjoys close fast racing to Palm Beach

Thirty Racer and CruiserRacer designs from 14 US states enjoyed ideal reaching conditions for the 60-mile 67th annual edition of the Wirth Munroe Race from Miami to Palm Beach on December 1st. This race is the second in the SORC’s Islands in the Stream series, a coastal classic dating back to 1957, and this year featured perfect southeast breezes of 12-15 knots and warm South Florida temperatures.
