No races were completed today in Day One of the 2023 ORC Mediterranean Championship in Sorrento, Naples, Italy. After a long postponement ashore a promising breeze arose of about 7 knots under light overcast skies in the early afternoon. After a good start, the fleet set off for the windward mark, rounded and then set off for the leeward gate while the wind lightened and shifted. But gradually the breeze died and the races were abandoned on boat courses.

2023 ORC Mediterranean Championship starts in one week

The ORC Mediterranean Championship, will take place in Piano di Sorrento from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st May. The windward/leeward races in the waters between Capri and Sorrento will be a selection to the Italian National Championship.
The event is organized by Circolo Remo e Vela Italia under the patronage of FIV and in cooperation with Yacht Club Italiano, Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia, the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) and UVAI.

Three new ORC European Champions

TP52 BEAU GESTE (HKG), Swan 42 BE WILD (ITA) and Italia 11.98 SUGAR 3 (EST) are the new ORC European Champions. Three new ORC European Champions in each class sailed well all week, but their overall victories were not guaranteed when they left the dock on Monday morning, on the last day of racing.

A weak frontal boundary hovering over Malta today brought cloud cover and light air for the fleet in the penultimate day of racing at the 2023 ORC European Championship, hosted by Royal Malta Yacht Club. Today the Coastal Race was on the schedule, a non-discardable race intended to last for 10-12 hours and test the navigational and seamanship skills of the fleet of 37 boats from 11 nations.

Today was another near-perfect day for racing in Day Four of the 2023 ORC European Championship, hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club. Blue skies, flat seas and 8-12 knots of wind kept the racing close in all three classes of this championship event featuring 37 teams from 11 nations.

RAN 630 set off from Livorno

With a gun salvo from the Frigate Luigi Rizzo the RAN 630 – Regata dell’Accademia Navale (Italian Naval Academy Regatta) in its sixth edition, kicked off Sunday morning April 23, in the waters off Livorno, in Tuscany. This 630-mile offshore race is valid with a coefficient 3 for the Italian Offshore Championship.
