The ORC SportBoat European Championship will be a highlight at the Trofeo de la Reina regatta in Valencia

30 June 2024 - Valencia, Spain - The ORC SportBoat European Championship will take place within the emblematic regatta - Trofeo S.M La Reina - of the Real Club Náutico de Valencia and will feature 18 boats from 5 countries

The ORC SportBoat European Championship 2024 arrives in the waters of Valencia in the first week of July as part of the 'XXV Trofeo S.M. La Reina – Regata Homenaje a la Armada - XXXVI Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui', organized by the Real Club Náutico de Valencia (RCNV). The club's flagship regatta will be the stage for a class from July 4 to 7.

With registrations closed, boats from the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Italy, and Turkey will arrive outside Spain. Spain will have the most boats in the fleet with fourteen, and a notable presence of cruisers competing for the RCN of Valencia, demonstrating the club's active support and participation. According to their class, these nearly twenty boats belong to divisions A and B.

On the water, models such as Tom 28, MaxFun 25, GP 26, Sonar 23, Platú 25, Farr 25, J80, ESTE24, and FC8 will be seen.

Teams will arrive in Valencia on July 1 to begin the registration and measurement process. This process will continue until Wednesday, July 3, when a training regatta and the Opening Ceremony will also take place. The competition will start on Thursday, July 4, with the coastal regatta, which will last approximately 5 to 6 hours for the slowest boat.

The windward-leeward races will take place from Friday, July 5, to Sunday, July 7. During these days, the entire fleet participating in the 'XXV Trofeo S.M. La Reina – Regata Homenaje a la Armada - XXXVI Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui' will compete in the racing fields.

Regarding the classes that will be part of the 2024 edition, in addition to the aforementioned ORC SportBoat Europeans, there will be a 220-mile Offshore race starting on June 28 and finishing on June 30, while the inshore classes will include Club Swan 42 Class, ORC 0, ORC 1, ORC 2, ORC 3, ORC 4, ORC Open, and Promotional Class.

In general terms, the organization has achieved one of its goals for 2024, having surpassed the 106 boats from the previous edition with 125 boats expected in the waters of Valencia this year.

This prestigious international nautical event is part of the Official Calendar of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation as an International Regatta. The Trofeo S.M. La Reina counts towards the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit and the Valencian Community's Cruiser League. It also hosts the ORC Sport Boat European Championship and is a scoring event for The Nations League circuit for the ClubSwan 42 class.

The RCNV organizes this Mediterranean reference regatta by delegation of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV) with the collaboration of the Valencian Community Sailing Federation (FVCV). The 'XXV Trofeo S.M. La Reina – Regata Homenaje a la Armada - XXXVI Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui' is part of the Official Calendar of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation as an International Regatta.

The XXV Trofeo S.M. La Reina is part of the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit, along with the PalmaVela Regatta organized by the RCN Palma and the 51st Conde de Godó BMW Sailing Trophy organized by the RCN Barcelona.
