Torbole sul Garda - Trentino Alto Adige
The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) is thrilled to announce that Yacht Club Torbole on Lake Garda in Italy has been awarded the ORC Sportboat European Championship 2025.
Torbole, a picturesque historic village, is nestled like an amphitheatre on the shores of Lake Garda, captivating visitors with its charm. This vibrant town boasts lively bars, inviting restaurants, and a variety of shopping boutiques. Among its highlights are the renowned Cutty Shark Pub and the Wind’s Bar—must-visit spots for those seeking local flavour.
The Ora, a famous wind blowing from the south, defines the sailing and surfing scene in Upper Garda. Starting around noon and continuing until sunset, it alternates with the morning Pelèr (a northern wind), offering a thrilling experience for water sports enthusiasts. Thanks to the area's unique orographic features, the Venturi effect amplifies the Ora’s strength, often reaching speeds over 10 meters per second, making it a favorite for sailors worldwide.
Circolo Vela Torbole offers an ideal balance of world-class facilities and superb racing conditions. The venue boasts two distinct racing areas, providing an "open" championship course that avoids one-sided tactics. With wind speeds often reaching their peak, particularly with the Ora, competitors are in for exhilarating racing.
