ORC DH Europeans 2024 Caorle, ITA
2024 ORC Double-Handed European Championship, now in its second year and the first of several World and European Championship events on the 2024 international racing calendar, will be held concurrently with 30th La Duecento, co-organized by the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).
La Duecento was created in 1995. It originated as part of La Cinquecento as a medium coastal race, disputed only in the X2 (double-handed) version for the first years. In the following years, La Duecento grew and became an independent race of increasing success in the XTutti (Full Crew) version.
The name comes from the miles to go – two hundred – along one of the most challenging and fascinating scenarios of the upper Adriatic: starting from Caorle, passage to the buoy of Grado, then route to the island of Sansego (Croatia) and back.

Under sunny skies and gentle breezes, the ORC European Double-Handed Championship embarked on a 200-mile journey alongside the 30th edition of La Duecento, organized by Circolo Nautico Porto Santa Margherita (CNSM) in collaboration with the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) in the upper Adriatic.

With just a couple of hours remaining until the start of the ORC European Double-Handed Championship, anticipation is high for the sailing community. This championship will be contested during the 30th edition of La Duecento, a renowned 200-mile race organized by Circolo Nautico Porto Santa Margherita (CNSM) in the upper Adriatic. This is the second edition of the ORC DH European championship, an anuual event co-organized by the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).
RAN 630, Vaquita takes Line Honours by just one minute over Lunatika

The Class40 Vaquita crossed the finish line positioned in front of the Naval Academy in Livorno first, followed by just one minute by the SunFast 3600 Lunatika, winner overall and Double Handed under both, ORC and IRC corrected time.

The search for a perfect rating system is as old as sailboat racing itself. Boat owners, sailors, designers and handicappers are always looking for solutions that work as boat designs change with time. However, regardless of what rating system is actually in use, an ideal rating system should have a set of key point of features to ensure fair racing.
ORC Rating Systems are administered by the National Rating Offices established worldwide in each country that have active offshore rating. There are two forms of the rating systems that are fully compatible using the same measurements and the same VPP: ORC International (ORCi) and ORC Club. ORCi is based on a complete boat measurement.
It is the intention of any rating system to give a boat rating which depends on her characteristics in order to equalise her with other boats of different size and characteristics. Characteristics that are positive for boat speed, like length of the water line or sail area, and those that are negative, like beam, displacement and wetted surface, are the most common influences in any system.
