Italian winter championships

Italian coasts were animated by a lot of interesting winter
championships which gave color to the seas during the cold winter
days. Starting from the Northwest, the 41st Tigullio Winter
Championship in Liguria, organized by Comitato Circoli Velici del
Tigullio: Pro Scogli Chiavari, CN Lavagna, CN Rapallo, CV Santa
Margherita Ligure, LNI Chiavari e Lavagna, LNI Rapallo, LNI Santa
Margherita Ligure, LNI Sestri Levante e YC Sestri Levante, had 50
registered yachts participating. At the end of nine races,
congratulations are due to Storm, Franco e Giacomo Loro Piana' s
Farr 30, leader in ORC overall Class 1-3, followed by Capitani
Coraggiosi, Federico Felcini and Guido Santoro's X41, and 3rd placed
Amelie, Clavarino and Profumo's Dufour 44.
In Punta Ala the 36th Winter Championship organized by Yacht Club Punta Ala was won by Cronos 2, Valerio Battista's GS 42, second was Betta Splendens, Orazio Olivo's Comet 38s helmed by YCPA sport director Filippo Calandriello, and third was Bastian Contrario, Massimo Bianchi's Sun Fast 32.
There was good success for the Monte Argentario Winter Series organized by Circolo Nautico e della Vela Argentario, Yacht Club Santo Stefano and Circolo Velico e Canottieri Porto Santo Stefano: after 8 hard-fought races, half raced in Porto Santo Stefano and half between Porto Ercole and Cala Galera, with Quattrogatti, Andrea Casini's Comet 45s, winning first place ahead of Ari Bada, Agostino Scornajenchi's Elan 400, and Costellation , Fabrizio Caprioli's Solaris 36 od. In the double handed division, Stefano Fargapane's Dufour 40 Euforia won over six opponents.
Preparations are underway to celebrate the winners of the 28° Winter Championship Trofeo Paolo Venanzangeli organized by the Club Nautico Riva di Traiano. In particular, Stefano Chiarotti and Gabriele Moccia, winners in the double handed division on the Sunfast 3600 Lunatika-NTT Data, and Gianrocco Catalano, winner in the Regata class on the First 40 Tevere Remo Mon Ile, followed by Dudi Coletti's Mumm 36 Mr Hyde and Marco Emili's GS 37 B ZigoZago.
After 9 races the closing ceremony of the 25° Fiumicino Winter Championship, organized by Circolo Velico di Fiumicino, has crowned Wanax, Giovanni Jonata Di Cosimo's X37 as winner in R1, second place Nautilus, Pino Stillitano's X35 and third Edoardo Lepre 's Este 31 Mar D'este. In R2 first Lorenzo Fagioli's GS40 Merope, followed by Giuseppe Tesorone's First 36 Bonheur and De Belli's Este 39 Pestifera.
Moving to the south in Sicily, the 40th Winter Championship was organized by Centro Velico Siciliano. After 6 races, the winner was Joy, Giuseppe Cascino's J22, second place Alvarosky, Francesco Siculiana's GS40, and third Emy Too, a Solaris 36od. Also in the south, but on the opposite coast of Sicily, we arrive in Apulia, in Bari, for the XVIII City of Bari Winter Championship organized by Circolo della Vela Bari, CUS Bari, CC Barion, Lega Navale Italiana, Circolo Nautico il Maestrale e Circolo Nautico Bari.
Going up the Adriatic Sea, between February and March there was competition in the Winter Championship in Rimini organized by the Sailing Club Rimini. At the end of 8 races, on the podium of the Regatta Class was in first place Trenta 63 Team Orzelli, owned by Gabriele Percetti. In second in Bagua was owner Gianluca Corbelli and in third owner Lorenzo Bertini. Former ORC World Champion Alberto de Rossi on his Pokekiakkere was on the high step of the podium in the Cruise Class.
Portodimare in Chioggia has closed their 40th Winter Championship with Pier Vettor Grimani's X41 Sideracordis declared winner overall in ORC1, second place went to Filippo Finco's Italia Yacht 13.98 Mister X, and third was Maya, Federico Tognetti's GS 52. In ORC 2 Marco Moro's Italia Yacht 12.98 Pax Tibi was only closely ahead of Vladimiro Pegoraro's new Italia Yacht 12.98 Karma and Stefano Genova's Delta 120 Capo Horn. The ORC 3-5 Class was won by Brenno Dal Pont's Italia 9.98 Take Five JR, second place for the sistership Roberto Dubbini's Sarchiapone and Nicola Borgatello and Daniele Lombardo's X-35 Demon X in third. Desirò Damiano's Platu 25 Ariel was the winner in the Mini altura Class.
