As the ORC DH European Championship 2024 in Caorle approaches, we are happy to introduce some participating teams. Embark on a journey with Mauro and Giovanni Trevisan, a father-and-son duo at the helm of boat Hauraki - Millennium 40 R ITA 40002, as they navigate the waters of the north Adriatic in Italy's premier double-handed sailing events.
The highlights of their current sailing career:
- 2023 Italian Double-Handed Offshore Champions in Class B.
- 2023 La Duecento - The Line Honours in X2 category, after an exciting match-race lasting two hundred miles between two high-powered hulls, was resolved at 02:39 with the arrival of the Millennium 40 R Hauraki by Mauro and Giovanni Trevisan, the ORC X2 Overall podium sees Hauraki second after Mr Hyde, (Hyde 27) of Marco Rusticali and Riccardo Rossi.

Since 2014, our shared passion for sailing has not only propelled us through the exhilarating races but has also become an integral part of our daily lives – from the thrill of competition to the tranquility of evening sails and the meticulous preparation during winter's "shipyard moments."
Our sailing odyssey began humbly with Giovanni, then just 14 years old, cutting his teeth in the gentle offshore races of the north Adriatic. Over the years, we've steadily progressed to tackle more challenging offshore races, always in the double-handed category.
The culmination of years of dedication and hard work materialized in 2023, as we clinched victory in the DH Italian Offshore Championship in category B. Today, our boat finds its berth at the Yacht Club Adriaco in Trieste, yet Caorle remains a cherished second home where our sailing aspirations first took root.
La Duecento, seemingly a brief regatta, presents a labyrinth of challenges along its route, each one requiring strategic finesse to navigate. While we've traversed this course before, each iteration leaves an indelible mark, evoking a kaleidoscope of emotions.
This year, however, the stakes are higher as La Duecento transforms into the ORC DH European Championship. The prospect of competing in this prestigious event serves as a catalyst for refining both our performance and our vessel, propelling our project to new heights. Despite our familiarity with the route, the caliber of competition promises to push us to our limits, testing the mettle of our crew.

Thirty Double-Handed teams from four nations are poised to do battle in less than two weeks at the 30th annual running of La Duecento, a popular 200-mile race in the upper Adriatic organized by Circolo Nautico Porto Santa Margherita (CNSM). These teams will also be competing for podium medals as part of the 2024 ORC Double-Handed European Championship, now in its second year and the first of several World and European Championship events on the 2024 international racing calendar organized by the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).
