After two successive weekends of mixed distance and course racing in the Rio de la Plata, winners have emerged from the 2017 ORC Argentinian Championship, hosted by YC Argentino. A total of 42 yachts competed in both divisions, each with two classes.

The wind seemed to take the day off on the final day of racing, but after an hour of waiting the breeze decided to come and blow between 5 and 10 knots. The 11-mile course was completed quickly and all sailors had a great time at the prize giving ceremony.

In the ORCi division Julián Somodi’s Mumm 36 Mad Max had a strong showing, winning three of eight races in the series, and after discards finished 12 points ahead of Simón Simsiroglu’s Soto 45 San Gregario in second place, with Andrés Somodi's Corum 280 Ushuaia finishing in third in overall scoring.

In the ORC Club division Vicente Ragognetti’s Pandora 34 Happy Hour defeated Álvaro Medali’s Match 42 Too Match by only one point to take the overall prize, while David Said’s Roy 38 Llanero was in the final podium position.

"We have Somodi-Somodi in the ORC International division," said Julián Somodi, winner of Class A and whose brother Andrés won Class B. "The nice thing about the crew is that we are friends. We try to do the best at our level. The boat helped us a lot, this is a whole year of work for this victory.”
