Taia 2 & WHite Goose is the Slovenian ORC Champion

This year the ORC Slovenian national championship started with two racing days on 20th and 21st June in Portorož and concluded with another racing weekend on 29th and 30th August in Izola.

Six upwind-downwind races were scheduled for the weekend in June and five were held in light conditions with wind up to 10 knots. Last weekend in August had much more wind: on Saturday three technical races were held in shifty winds varying widely from 10 to 25 knots. On Sunday a final coastal race was scheduled, but with the weather forecast predicting thunderstorms during the morning the noon start was moved to the afternoon, but finally cancelled.

In total eight of ten scheduled races were finished, and last year’s champion Taia 2 & White Goose (Arya 415) with Goran Djordjevic at the helm successfully defended her title, closely followed by One more time (More 40, Željko Perovič). One more time lost her fight with Taia 2 & White Goose in Race 7 when she finished 7th with a BFD already in the first race. With the Coastal Race 9 and two discards she could be back in the fight. Generali (TP52, Samo Zvan) finished in third place just one point behind One more time. Generali has also some chances to interfere in the fight for the champion title with one more race and a 6th place for the second discard in Race 5.

All together 17 boats took part at the championship in three classes divided by GPH. Winners by classes are: Taia 2 & White Goose, Arya 415, Goran Djordjevic (Class A), Joy, J-99, Vladimir Borstner (Class B), Palada Elan Express, Emil Jerkovic (Class C)
