28 June, 2025 - Capo d’Orlando, Italy - The wind finally arrived in Capo d’Orlando, delivering a spectacular final day at the 2025 Edison Next Italian ORC National Championship. As forecasted, a steady westerly breeze allowed the Race Committee to launch the first race earlier at 11:00 AM with around 8 knots, building to 10–11 knots in the following two races.

The inshore portion of the championship concluded with six races completed for the fleet of 33 boats, divided into two groups by size. Despite two windless days, the event was deemed a success, with fair competition across the board and clear results after discarding each team’s worst score.

The awards ceremony at the FIVillage stage gathered all participants and many officials. It was opened by FIV President Francesco Ettorre, who had just arrived in Capo d’Orlando following his election to the board of CONI, Italy’s national sports governing body.

Among those on stage were: Francesco Federico (President of Yacht Club Capo d’Orlando), Mayor Franco Ingrillì, VII FIV Zone President Beppe Tisci, Offshore Sailing Councilor Maurizio Buscemi, CONI Regional Vice President Maria Cristina Correnti, UVAI President Fabrizio Gagliardi, and Giuseppe Mangano, President of the Capo d’Orlando Marina.

A special moment was the presentation of a commemorative plaque to President Ettorre by Corvette Captain Agostino Repici, skipper of the boat Polluce, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Italian Navy Sailing Sport division.
