As the ORC DH European Championship 2024 in Caorle approaches, we are happy to introduce some participating teams. Team Lady Day on Italia 998 is a force to be reckoned with in the world of competitive sailing among the Corinthian teams.  They've repeatedly proven themselves on the water with a track record that speaks for itself, including Corinthian (non-professional) division victories at prestigious events like the Italian championship and the ORC World Championship. But now, the skipper Corrado Annis from Yacht Club Adriaco in Trieste will set sail on the new, challenging double-handed race.

Wth a full crew, Lady Day was the best Corinthian (non-professional) Class C team at the 2022 ORC Worlds in Porto Cervo, 3rd place in Class C and the best Corinthian team at the 2022 ORC Mediterranean Championship, and third in Class C at the ORC Worlds in 2019 in Sibenik, Croatia and at the 2017 ORC Worlds in Trieste.

Corrado is teamed up with well-known sailor Alberto Lonza, and the two are making their double-handed debut in Caorle. Stepping away from the familiar shores of their routine, they've embarked on a journey that promises to test their limits and redefine their capabilities. Despite their impressive past successes, they're approaching this next chapter with humility, eager to learn and grow as they navigate uncharted waters.

The skipper Corrado Annis: "As we've matured and gained wisdom (hopefully!), a yearning for fresh challenges has taken root, compelling us to break free from the confines of our daily office routines. Stepping beyond our familiar sailing comfort zone, we're meticulously preparing both our boat and ourselves, adopting a humble approach to transform our sailing mindset.

In our quest for readiness, we've sought counsel from seasoned friends and sailing experts, absorbing invaluable knowledge during this brief preparatory phase. Despite our past successes aboard Lady Day Italia 998, this endeavor finds us feeling like true beginners, perhaps even genuine underdogs.

We hope to have gentle and warm weather for our debut in this sailing discipline, but most of all, we are preparing ourselves to face the bad one.

We are thrilled to embark on this new adventure!"

Thirty Double-Handed teams from four nations are poised to do battle in less than two weeks at the 30th annual running of La Duecento, a popular 200-mile race in the upper Adriatic organized by Circolo Nautico Porto Santa Margherita (CNSM). These teams will also be competing for podium medals as part of the 2024 ORC Double-Handed European Championship, now in its second year and the first of several World and European Championship events on the 2024 international racing calendar organized by the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).
