The 54th meeting of the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) concluded today with a summary of the results of this year’s hard work of the ORC’s Committee members and Staff, along with descriptions of new initiatives and innovations in technical and support services for offshore sailing.

The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) and the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club (KNS) are pleased to announce the entry process is open for the 2024 ORC Double-Handed World Championship in Norway. This 3rd edition of the annual DH event will be held over 8-16 June 2024 with the start in Oslo and finish in the historic town of Tønsberg.

The 54th edition of the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) Annual Meeting will start on Friday, 10 November and last through Tuesday, 14 November in Malaga, Spain. This event features meetings of the ORC’s Management, Promotion and Development, Offshore Classes and Events, Measurement, and Rating Officers Committees, culminating in the meeting of the ORC Congress on Tuesday, 14 November.

Two Double-handed entries have won the top two podium finishes overall in the ORC division of the 44th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race.

The 44th Rolex Middle Sea Race starts tomorrow, Saturday 21 October, at 1100 CEST from Grand Harbour, Valletta. The Mediterranean’s most renowned offshore race has all the ingredients required for an enthralling contest. An exceptional fleet is facing a shifting weather picture.

From 21-22 October, the International Technical Committee (ITC) of the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) will have its final full meeting of the year in Hamburg, Germany.

These 52 submissions from 11 countries and the ORC Management Committee are important because they represent the feedback from thousands of ORC users around the world that will be used to improve the system’s future use.

After five races varying from a 26-mile Coastal race to four hour-long Windward/Leeward courses, one winner has emerged at the 2023 ORC Sportboat European Championship, hosted by the Nautical Club of Kalamaki (NOK) with support from the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).

The third edition of Ibiza JoySail culminated with the victories of Moat (Performance), Dark Horse (Performance Cruising), Aurelius (World Cruising) and Svea (J Class) after competing in three races off Ibiza and Formentera. The whole event was a roaring success with a record number of participants enjoying the competition at sea and the activities on land.

With the entire fleet now gathered at Marina Ibiza, the superyachts competed in their first race in Ibiza, with Moat in Performance, Dark Horse in Performance Cruising, and Aurelius in World Cruising leading the pack on their first outing. The J Class, who stretched their legs on Wednesday, spent several hours out on the water this Thursday but ultimately were unable to race.

After two days of measurements and inspections of 14 entries from 5 countries, on Thursday, September 28, racing will start at the 2023 ORC Sportboat European Championship, hosted by the Nautical Club of Kalamaki (NOK) with support from the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).

Variable sailing conditions hounded this year’s 79-strong Rolex Big Boat Series fleet, but the competition was as fierce as ever for the 59th edition of the West Coast’s premier racing event.

After one Long offshore race held on Monday and a shorter Coastal race that started yesterday, followed by measurement checks completed today, there are three new ORC Double Handed World Champions declared at the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona (RCNB).

Skippers kept their feet on the accelerator during Day 2 of RolexBig Boat Series, driving another intense day of great racing on San Francisco Bay. In the four ORC classes racing today on the North Course area, the moderate conditions prompted use of the medium wind band ratings for scoring. This may have helped bring some new teams to the winner’s circles in three of these classes.

The energy is palpable and anticipation high as the 79 teams registered to race gather at the docks of St. Francis Yacht Club for last-minute preparations before tomorrow’s start of the 2023 Rolex Big Boat Series. Three one-design classes (Express 37, J/105 and J/88), a diverse ORC class split into four fleets, and a stately gathering of classic yachts make for an intense lineup of competitors for the 59th edition of the West Coast’s premier racing event.

Early this morning all boats participating in the ORC Double-Handed World Championship completed their first race, 183 miles for Class A and B, and 163 miles for Class C, which took them north-east to the Medes Islands and the ODAS Begur buoy, and back to Barcelona. This was the first of two races to determine the final results in this event organized by Real Club Nautico Barcelona (RCNB).

After a 40-minute delay awaiting a sailable easterly breeze, today race managers from Real Club Nautico Barcelona (RCNB) got all three classes off on their Long distance race at the 2023 ORC Double Handed World Championship.
