New medal winners at 2023 ORC Double Handed World Championship

After one Long offshore race held on Monday and a shorter Coastal race that started yesterday, followed by measurement checks completed today, there are three new ORC Double Handed World Champions declared at the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona (RCNB).

Skippers kept their feet on the accelerator during Day 2 of RolexBig Boat Series, driving another intense day of great racing on San Francisco Bay. In the four ORC classes racing today on the North Course area, the moderate conditions prompted use of the medium wind band ratings for scoring. This may have helped bring some new teams to the winner’s circles in three of these classes.

The energy is palpable and anticipation high as the 79 teams registered to race gather at the docks of St. Francis Yacht Club for last-minute preparations before tomorrow’s start of the 2023 Rolex Big Boat Series. Three one-design classes (Express 37, J/105 and J/88), a diverse ORC class split into four fleets, and a stately gathering of classic yachts make for an intense lineup of competitors for the 59th edition of the West Coast’s premier racing event.
Winners determined in Long Offshore Race of ORC Double Handed Worlds 2023 in Barcelona

Early this morning all boats participating in the ORC Double-Handed World Championship completed their first race, 183 miles for Class A and B, and 163 miles for Class C, which took them north-east to the Medes Islands and the ODAS Begur buoy, and back to Barcelona. This was the first of two races to determine the final results in this event organized by Real Club Nautico Barcelona (RCNB).

Starting at 1100 CET tomorrow three waves of Double Handed teams will begin racing in the Long offshore race held at the 2023 ORC Double Handed World Championship, hosted by the Real Club Nautico Barcelona (RCNB). The race will start just offshore of the entrance to Port Vell in Barcelona.

Starting on Saturday, September 9 through 15 September, Real Club Nautico Barcelona (RCNB) will host the second annual edition of the ORC Double Handed World Championship. The event is organized by RCNB, a delegation of the Royal Spanish Federation of Sailing (RFEV) under the authority of the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) and the collaboration of the Catalan Sailing Federation (FCV).
Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup – Impressive fleet expected in Porto Cervo for 33rd edition

A fleet of around 50 maxi yachts is due to gather in Porto Cervo from 3rd to 9th September for the 33rd edition of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in collaboration with title sponsor Rolex and the International Maxi Association.

4 entries in three classes - ORC, IRC and Class 40 - will start today in the 18th edition of the Palermo-Monte Carlo Race, organized by the Circolo della Vela Sicilia (CVS) and Yacht Club de Monaco in partnership with Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) under the patronage of FIV and UVAI.
