Strengthening ORC Offshore Sailing in Greece
9 February 2026 - Athens, Greece - ORC seminar at the Yacht Club of Greece gathered sailors, organizers, and officials for an intensive pre-season weekend
On February 7-8, the Yacht Club of Greece in Athens, hosted a comprehensive ORC Seminar dedicated to sailors, race organizers, rating officers, and measurers. The two-day event combined presentations, discussions, and practical workshops, attracting more than 25 participants from across Greece.
A pre-season initiative focused on knowledge and development
The seminar was organized as a pre-season initiative aimed at bringing state-of-the-art offshore sailing knowledge to Greece. Under the guidance of representatives from the Offshore Racing Congress, participants received in-depth insight into the ORC system, including VPP fundamentals, scoring options, measurement procedures, Sailor Services, and an introduction to ORC Club Lite.
The interactive format allowed for open dialogue between sailors and ORC experts, creating a valuable platform for learning, clarification, and exchange of experience.
Yacht Club of Greece: continuing a long-standing tradition
On behalf of the event organizer, Yacht Club of Greece, Fleet Captain and Overseer of Sailing Stratis Andreadis emphasized the importance of the initiative:
“The Yacht Club of Greece has been at the forefront of yachting and sailing in Greece and the Levant for over 80 years. Continuing this proud tradition, we decided to initiate a pre-season seminar weekend to bring the state-of-the-art of offshore sailing to Greece.
We extend our sincerest thanks to the highly professional ORC team, as well as to all racers who traveled from all corners of Greece to invest time in becoming better informed and faster in the greatest sport there is: sailing.”

With participants ranging from experienced offshore racers to race officials and measurers, the event demonstrated both the depth and breadth of interest in ORC racing within Greece.
