Entries Open for the 41st Edition of the 200 Millas A2

The Club Náutico de Altea’s iconic winter offshore race returns from 5 to 7 March 2027, with discounted entry fees available to teams registering before 1 January.

28 October 2026 - Altea, Spain - Club Náutico de Altea has officially opened entries for the 41st edition of the 200 Millas A2 Winter Race, one of the longest-established and most prestigious fixtures on Spain’s offshore racing calendar. The event will take place from 5 to 7 March 2027.

Following the successful staging of the A2 European Championship in 2026, which coincided with the race’s 40th anniversary, the 200 Millas A2 has significantly strengthened its international profile, raising its standing within the offshore racing community and attracting growing interest from teams and boat owners across Europe.

Building on this momentum, organisers are looking ahead to the 41st edition with strong expectations for the fleet, particularly in terms of international participation.

To encourage early commitments and help both Spanish and overseas teams plan their campaigns, the organising committee has introduced an early-entry discount. Boats completing their registration and payment before 1 January 2027 will benefit from a reduced entry fee of €360. The standard fee of €400 will apply to entries received between 1 January and 15 February 2027, when regular registration is scheduled to close.

Entries can now be submitted through the event’s official website: www.200millasa2.com.

A Demanding Double-Handed Offshore Challenge

True to its reputation, the 200 Millas A2 will once again test the seamanship, tactical judgement and endurance of its competitors in one of the Mediterranean’s most demanding winter offshore races.

Sailed in double-handed format, with just two sailors aboard each boat, the race follows its traditional course from Altea to Ibiza and Formentera before returning to Altea.

The start is scheduled for 12:00 CET on Friday 5 March, with the prize-giving ceremony taking place on Sunday 7 March.

The Mediterranean’s unpredictable early-season weather, combined with the tactical and physical demands of offshore racing, makes the event a formidable test of boat handling, weather routing, speed management and crew coordination.

With only two sailors on board, success depends as much on effective teamwork, sound decision-making and endurance as it does on outright boat speed.

The 2027 edition will also count towards the Spanish Double-Handed Offshore Championship Cup (Copa de España de Cruceros A2), further strengthening its position on the national racing calendar.

Building on Four Decades of Offshore Racing Heritage

Now entering its 41st edition, the 200 Millas A2 has become far more than a sporting competition. The race has become a defining event for Club Náutico de Altea and a meeting point for sailors united by their passion for offshore racing.

Hosting the A2 European Championship in 2026 marked a major milestone in the event’s development, significantly extending its reach beyond Spain and demonstrating the club’s ability to deliver international racing at the highest level.

Álvaro Arroyo, Sports Director at Club Náutico de Altea and the event’s Safety Coordinator, commented:

“The 2026 European Championship was a turning point for the 200 Millas A2. Our priority now is to build on that international momentum, attract new teams from overseas and continue delivering a top-level offshore racing event where sporting excellence and safety remain our defining principles.”

Silver Bullion Prizes and Dedicated Support for Visiting Teams

One of the event’s most distinctive traditions will once again take centre stage, with the top three boats in the overall standings receiving the race’s coveted silver bullion bars.

These prestigious prizes have become a hallmark of the 200 Millas A2 and one of its most recognisable traditions.

Club Náutico de Altea will also provide logistical support for participating boats, including complimentary berthing and access to haul-out, launching and hull-cleaning services, subject to the conditions set out in the Notice of Race.

These facilities are particularly valuable for visiting teams travelling from other Spanish ports and overseas, helping to simplify preparations and reduce the logistical challenges associated with competing away from their home base.

With entries now open, the countdown to the 41st edition of the 200 Millas A2 is officially under way.

Building on its four-decade legacy and the international success of the 2026 European Championship, the race is setting its sights on further strengthening its position on the European offshore racing circuit and writing the next chapter in its long-standing history.
