The ORC Double-Handed World Championship, organized by the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club (Kongelig Norsk Seilforening – KNS) in collaboration with the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC), celebrated three new ORC Double-Handed World Champions in Tønsberg, Norway.

The event once again demonstrated why the Loro Piana Giraglia is one of the most prestigious and eagerly anticipated regattas in the Mediterranean, combining intense competition with a spirit of camaraderie and excellence.

The third edition of the ORC Double-Handed World Championship 2024 is set to commence today. Starting on Saturday June 8th, the 71st edition of the Loro Piana Giraglia kicks off. The first one with Loro Piana as a Title Partner. One hundred fifty-nine yachts worldwide have arrived in Saint-Tropez for the first act of the regatta, which begins tomorrow with the first race.

The champions were crowned in ORC classes as follows: Elena Nova in ORC 0-1, L’Immens-Laplaza Assessors in ORC 2, Lady in ORC 3, Lassal in ORC 4-5, Yellow Rose in ORC Double Handed

Before the final day, the Estonian Katariina II is the new leader in ORC 0-1, while the same boats remain at the top in the other classes: L’Immens-Laplaza Assessors in ORC 2, Lady in ORC 3, Lassal in ORC 4-5, Tenaz in J70, and Baleària-RCNP in the Women’s Cup. After the fourth race, a discard came into play in all categories.

With two weeks left until the first gun, the New York Yacht Club's 170th Annual Regatta is nearing record numbers in terms of participation. The entry list currently stands at 139 boats, with 39 registered to compete under the ORC rating rule.

This Thursday, the 51st Conde de Godó BMW Trophy began with the coastal race for the ORC Double Handed fleet, which started its 105-mile test at 3 PM with a start and finish in Barcelona, passing by the Petrolera, located off the Costa Daurada.

Two months ahead of the 42nd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the competition has already registered over one hundred entries. Noteworthy is the fact that more than half of the teams registered belong to the ORC class, proving their vouched interest and support of the European Championship being organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma and the Offshore Racing Congress in 2025 for the 43rd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE.
